Puzzle #29

An Unequal Race

Three friends decided to race each other with their bikes.

Nathaniel owned a good track bike and was quite experienced (he belonged to a bike club), while Oliver had just learned how to ride.

The race seemed to be unfair, to say the least. After long discussion, they came up with a conclusion that seemed to be more or less fair. They agreed on a distance of 50 miles and decided that, Nathaniel, being the excellent biker, should form a team with the beginner, Oliver. They would race against the other rider, Patterson. Nathaniel would cover just half the distance and Oliver the other half, while Patterson had to cover 50 miles himself.

Who would win the race if Oliver could ride only half as fast as Patterson, while Nathaniel rode four times faster than Oliver?
