Mathematics contest

There was a mathematics contest where Ackerley, Bartholomew, Cadell, Damian, Eberlein, Federico, Garland and Hakon got the top eight places. The teacher asked them to guess who was the first.

Ackerley said: "Either Federico or Hakon is the first."

Bartholomew said: "I'm the first."

Cadell said: "Garland is the first."

Damian said: "Bartholomew is not the first."

Eberlein said: "Ackerley is wrong."

Federico said: "Neither Hakon nor I am the first."

Garland said: "Cadell is not the first."

Hakon said: "I agree with Ackerley."

The teacher summed up and said that three of them guessed correctly. So, who was the first?
